AmIslamic Bank today contributed part of its zakat perniagaan worth RM268,000 to 11 Charity Homes and Organisations to meet their daily expenses, ongoing programmes and also to assist needy students. The zakat contribution was presented to the representatives of the 11 Charity Homes and Organisations by the Chairman of AmBank Group, Tan Sri Azman Hashim.
The 11 Charity Homes and Organisations selected are as follows:
i) Raudhatul Ikhwan - RM10,000;
ii) Rumah Aman (Shah Alam) - RM18,000;
iii) Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim/Miskin Daerah Kuala Langat, Selangor - RM20,000;
iv) Islamic Outreach ABIM - RM20,000;
v) Pertubuhan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Selangor Darul Ehsan (RACTAR) - RM25,000;
vi) Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim/Miskin Klang (PEYAKIN) - RM25,000;
vii) Baitus Sakinah Wal Mahabbah - RM25,000;
viii) Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-anak Yatim Selangor - RM25,000;
ix) Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Pesakit HIV/AIDS Nurul Iman Malaysia (PERNIM) - RM25,000;
x) Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Al-Munirah - RM25,000
xi) IIUM Endowment Fund - RM50,000;
"Other than our duty as Muslims to pay Zakat Perniagaan, we also feel this contribution as one of our Corporate Social Responsibility to society. We hope this contribution will realise the noble objectives of the Charity Homes and Organisations and also, the synergistic relationship between AmIslamic Bank and the Charity Homes and Organisations will benefit everyone," said Tan Sri Azman.
The IIUM Endowment Fund ("IEF") is one of the biggest receipients for AmIslamic Bank's Zakat Perniagaan. Its main objective is to assist needy students who have excelled academically. The money will be used to assist these needy students in their university fees and cost of living.
Other receipients include welfare homes which were formed as charity centres for orphans, the poor, single mothers, senior citizen and other 'asnaf'.
