Purpose & Benefits
EPF members with excess funds in their Account 1 (at least RM5,000 more than the Basic Savings required amount) can invest part of this savings through external fund managers appointed by EPF.
Basic Savings is a pre-determined savings amount in your Account 1 based on your age bracket - to enable you to achieve a minimum savings amount of at least RM120,000.00 when you are 55 years old. This saving may not be withdrawn until you are 55 years old.
Withdrawal Eligibility
The amount that you can withdraw is based on the following:
- 20% of excess funds in Account 1 above the Basic Savings required amount by age (Table 1)
- Every 3 months after the last transfer date is made;
- The minimum amount for investment withdrawal is RM1,000.
