KUALA LUMPUR - AmBank continues to provide transaction banking services via JomPAY through a partnership with the Malaysian SLE Association. Through this partnership, well-wishers of the association as well as the general public are able to make donations to the association via JomPAY.

Persatuan SLE Malaysia (PSLEM) or the Malaysian SLE Association is the country’s only organisation set up to help people suffering from Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), a disease where the patient’s body makes antibodies that attack its own tissues. Started in 1994 with a core group of 10 members, today PSLEM has almost 3,000 members throughout Malaysia.

Present at the ceremony were Dr Heselynn Hussein, President, Malaysian SLE Association, Mr Christopher Yap, Managing Director, Business Banking, AmBank Group and Mr Siek Kar Teck, Director, Retail Payments, Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet), the operator of JomPAY along with the senior officers from PSLEM, AmBank Group and PayNet.

“This partnership marks the first charitable organisation in the country to collaborate with us to enable JomPAY payments, hence providing members of the public the ease of making online contributions in support of the association’s noble cause,” said Christopher Yap.

JomPAY enables bill payments via Internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs of 40 banks in Malaysia anytime, anywhere, which provides added convenience, accessibility and flexibility to the contributors. JomPAY is Malaysia’s largest online bill payment service with more than 5,013 biller codes.

PSLEM President Dr Heselynn Hussein said, “PSLEM is grateful to all our friends, members of the public, and corporations who have supported our work over the past 25 years. With JomPAY, our donors, especially the regular ones, will find it even more convenient to send in their contributions. These contributions have helped PSLEM to provide SLE patients with, among other things, free counselling services, free education programmes on SLE, and financial assistance for expensive medications, joint replacement and cataract operations, medical tests and procedures, hospitalisation expenses, wheelchairs, and transport expenses for their treatment.

“We are honoured to collaborate with Malaysian SLE Association and AmBank to offer JomPAY as the preferred channel for collecting contributions. With JomPAY, Malaysian SLE Association will enjoy cost savings, efficiency improvements and greater convenience. JomPAY is Malaysia’s largest online biller with more than 5,000 biller codes, giving bank customers the convenience of making payments for virtually all their day-to-day bills,” said Mr Peter Schiesser, Group Chief Executive Officer, Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet).
