AmBank Group, through AmBank Islamic Berhad, has extended RM103.8 million in financing to Founder Energy Sdn Bhd (FESB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Founder Group Limited (FGL), to support its undertaking as the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contractor for a 29.99MWac ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) facility located in Bukit Selambau, Kedah in addition to other Commercial and Industrial (C&I) projects.
The project, which has a contract sum of RM132,067,000 was awarded to FESB by one of the project developers backed by both local and multinational corporate shareholders. It is also under the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), launched in 2022 by the Energy Commission of Malaysia to accelerate corporate participation in renewable energy. Scheduled for completion in March 2027, this strategic collaboration reinforces AmBank’s commitment to championing sustainable financing and supporting Malaysia’s transition toward a greener, low‑carbon economy.
Christopher Yap, Managing Director of Business Banking, AmBank Group said, “This financing reflects AmBank Group’s continued commitment to advancing sustainable finance and supporting renewable energy projects. By partnering with Founder Energy under the CGPP framework, we are proud to play a role in accelerating Malaysia’s transition towards a low-carbon economy while enabling businesses to adopt cleaner energy solutions.”
Eric Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Founder Group Limited said, “We are grateful for this financing extended by AmBank. This support is instrumental as a testament to Founder Energy’s growing bankability and technical excellence within the solar industry. Securing such significant financial backing not only reinforces our capability to deliver large scale utility projects but also our commitment to a greener Malaysia.”
