As part of AmBank Group’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, the Bank successfully completed another meaningful education empowerment initiative under its AmKasih banner - bringing smiles to 1,000 schoolchildren from SK Sibujaya and SJK (C) Thin Hua Sibujaya. Each student received Back to School kits comprising a backpack and essential stationery, equipping them for the new academic year. 

The event, held on 8 November 2025 at the Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre, Sibujaya, was graced by Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Chairman Emeritus & Honorary Adviser of AmBank Group and Executive Chairman of Amcorp Group; Jamie Ling, Group Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Group; Councillor Sempurai Petrus Ngelai, Chairman of the Sibu Rural District Council; and Shalina Azman, Chairman of Amcorp Group.

 The AmKasih Back to School initiative underscores AmBank Group’s continued dedication to empowering communities through education - a cornerstone of the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. In partnership with Amcorp Group, the programme reflects a shared commitment to nurturing young minds and supporting the future generation, especially in semi-urban and rural communities.

A Meaningful Collaboration in a Milestone Year 

The CSR event carried an added significance as Sibujaya celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Established as a new satellite township to complement the old town of Sibu, Sibujaya was developed under the leadership of the Sarawak State Government through its Housing Development Corporation (HDC), in collaboration with Amcorp Group as the primary developer for its commercial development. 

Over the past three decades, Sibujaya has transformed into a thriving community - a testament to the long-standing partnership between the public and private sectors. The development’s community-focused infrastructure, including the Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre, stands as a symbol of sustainable growth and social well-being in the region. 

Strengthening Connections in Sarawak

Ahead of the CSR event, AmBank Group CEO, Jamie Ling, took the opportunity to visit four of AmBank’s branches in Sibu on 7 November 2025 - namely Jalan Pedada, Sibujaya, Tanahmas, and Jalan Tuanku Osman. The visit was part of the Group’s ongoing engagement with its frontliners and teams driving operations in one of Sarawak’s key business regions.

As AmBank Group commemorates its 50th year of service to Malaysians, initiatives like the AmKasih Back to School programme exemplify the Group’s enduring purpose - to create shared progress by empowering people, businesses, and communities nationwide. 

The Sibujaya CSR event was a heartwarming reminder that even as AmBank continues to advance digitally and expand strategically, its core values of compassion, partnership, and community upliftment remain unwavering.
