AmBank Group, in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, conducted a meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative on 20 May 2025, which focused on fire safety awareness involving young students. The programme took place at the Meru Fire Station in Perak and saw the enthusiastic participation of 130 primary school students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Silibin, Ipoh.
The full-day session featured a Fire Safety Talk, Fire Drill Demonstration and several hands-on activities aimed at equipping students with basic but vital life-saving knowledge and techniques to act swiftly and safely during fire emergencies. These practical insights are crucial, especially for children, as fires can happen unexpectedly in schools, homes or public spaces.
Present to support the event were Eqhwan Mokhzanee, Chief Executive Officer of AmBank Islamic; Cheong Chee Wai, Managing Director of Retail Banking; Gary Chin Wai Tai, Regional Director of Perak and special guest Seniman Diraja Dato’ Mohammad Nor or better known as Dato’ Lat, who engaged warmly with the students and teachers of SK Silibin, adding an inspirational touch to the event.
This initiative exemplifies AmBank Group’s ongoing commitment to community development and education, in line with our broader sustainability and social impact efforts. By promoting safety education amongst schoolchildren, the Group does not only raise awareness but also strengthens resilience within the community.
More than just a CSR programme, this initiative enhances AmBank Group’s brand presence and underscores our role as a responsible corporate citizen that genuinely cares for the wellbeing of the community. The Group believes that efforts such as this will leave a positive and lasting impression on the students, their families and the broader school community.
A big thank you to all AmBankers in the Northern Region, the dedicated fire personnel of Meru Fire Station and the teachers of SK Silibin who helped make this event a success.
Let’s continue to spark change, one community at a time.
